PALM BAY, FL – The Palm Bay community is mourning the loss of Staff Sgt. Tristen Wright, a dedicated U.S. Air Force member who passed away on August 15, 2024, in a non-combat incident while deployed at an undisclosed location. At 28 years old, Wright was a respected figure both in his military service and in his hometown.

Service and Dedication
Staff Sgt. Wright was assigned to the 27th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. He served as a materiel management specialist, a role essential to the logistics and supply chain operations within the Air Force. Wright enlisted in the Air Force on August 23, 2016, and was known for his leadership and mentorship qualities. Prior to his current assignment, he served with the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Kadena Air Force Base, Japan, from 2017 to 2019.
Community and Military Impact
Wright’s dedication extended beyond his military duties, as he actively volunteered within the local community. His positive influence was felt across the entire Cannon Air Force Base family and the local community. U.S. Air Force Maj. Brent Escay, 27th SOLRS commander, praised Wright for his leadership and the care he showed towards his fellow airmen. Col. Robert Johnston, 27th Special Operations Wing commander, emphasized the commitment to supporting Wright’s family and teammates during this difficult time.
Honors and Achievements
Throughout his service, Staff Sgt. Wright received numerous decorations, including the U.S. Air and Space Force Commendation Medal, the U.S. Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters and āCā devices, an Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, a Global War on Terrorism Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal. He had previously deployed in support of Operations Resolute Support and Inherent Resolve, contributing to the U.S. military’s efforts to combat ISIS.
